We're sold
out of comb honey, pollen and propolis until Spring 2008.
Raw
Honey: Our honey products are never heated. This
year, we're offering honey harvested from our very
own backyard colonies here in the Sellwood neighborhood
of Southeast Portland. We're calling this batch "Sellwood
Plunder."
Our honey
crop is limited this year, as our bees have been
focusing on drawing out new comb and expanding their
numbers. Our hives are very healthy, as most
Northwestern beekeepers have avoided any of the "Colony
Collapse Disorder" issues that have been so widely
publicized since last winter.
Due to our limited
remaining stock, we're only offering honey on a pick-up basis.
We'll re-open our Local Harvest online store Spring 2008. Please
contact us to place an order, and arrange pick-up!

Fresh
Pollen: We only sell fresh pollen in the Spring, and
package it to order. We trap pollen from our backyard
bees, gathering the booty every evening from our
top-mounted Sundance II traps.
Sold Out until Spring 2008
Propolis: Otherwise called "bee glue", propolis is
made by bees from tree saps and wax to close up gaps in
hives. Bees also use propolis to "sterilize" their
habitats, even mummifying mice that move in. Propolis is
used by people for natural health, but also has uses in
finishing fine woodwork.
Please
call for information on small quantities of propolis.
Nucleus Colonies:
We're selling nucs (local pick-up only)from our standard deep colonies in May 2008*
Five-frame nucs with 2008 queens (Italian, Carniolan or Dr. Lynn
Royce's Hygienic stock) will be $85 in laminated cardboard nuc
boxes you can keep. No frame exchange necessary. All comb is
from 2006-2008 seasons. Please contact us to reserve your nuc!
Entire Colonies:
We are not offering entire colonies at this time.
Summer/Fall Queens:
We plan to raise a surplus of open-mated "mutt" queens from our best
over-wintered stock. Please check with us early Spring 2008 to
reserve queens.
*Timing is
dependent upon availability of 2008 queens. Unpredictable Spring
weather can prevent mating flights and delay queen shipments.
However, in a good year, we can provide nucs toward the end of
April.
